Precious Moments

Hey You!

Today I want to talk about awareness, specifically awareness and gratitude towards nature. I know a lot of you probably had your exotic summer vacation cancelled or postponed because of everything that is happening in the world. So, no matter where you end up this summer, whether it’s in the famous island of Santorini or the coast of Oregon. I encourage you to take multiple moments throughout your summer sun filled days of adventure to become aware of how you feel in those moments. We often take fresh air, the warm summer sun, the salty ocean, and the evergreen shade of trees for granted – so this summer when you’re hiking, road tripping, and adventuring, take a moment to be grateful of where you are and what/who you’re around. This summer, let’s focus on being in the present, living in the moment, being outside, and our mental health.

I’d like to encourage you all to go on a tech detox at least once this summer. It doesn’t have to be all summer, but at least for a day or two, put your phone away and don’t use any technology for the entire time. We’ve been living in a virtual world the past three months because of quarantine. Our mind and eyes could use a much needed and deserved break from technology and the media.

Next, make an effort to hug the people you are with, tell them how much you love them and appreciate them for being in your life. Make memories, have fun, take more pictures to never forget the moments. Communicate with one another, the times we are living in today are uncertain and chaotic. Reach out to the people who you care about and make sure they are healthy and safe.

I also want to encourage you to spend time in nature. Go on more hikes, walks, kayaking trips, and ATV rides. Feel the earth beneath your feet and the nature surrounding you. Feel how the energy is different in these places compared to your home. Feel the energy that connects you to everyone in the space around you. I invite you when you find yourself at a new place to take a moment to be still and close your eyes. Focus on your breath and then focus on the warmth of your heart center. Next, simply just sit/stand wherever you may be and feel the gratitude engulf you and imagine hugging the place you are in. You can even go to further imagine hugging the entire world. If you feel like you need to stretch your arms out to embrace this feeling or hug a near by tree, do so. Enjoy the movement and be an absolute ray of sunshine wherever this summer takes you.

Take this summer to develop your passions, increase your life experience, and knowledge. Learn who you are through meditation and asking yourself questions. Dig deep and find what makes you, you. I encourage you to try new practices and learn something new. Wherever you are this summer, whoever you are with, add value to the spaces and lives around you. I hope you enjoyed this blog.
